- The first time that you open Entourage, a new 'Microsoft User Data' folder is created in the Documents folder that is provided by the Mac operating system. The Microsoft User Data folder contains an Office 2008 Identities folder that stores the Entourage database for each identity. To create a new Microsoft User Data folder, follow these steps.
- Download and install Entourage 2008, Web Services Edition. On the Mactopia IT Pros Entourage Web Services page, click the Download Entourage 2008, Web Services Edition link. At the bottom of the Mactopia Downloads page, under Browse for Downloads, verify that Office 2008 and Microsoft Entourage 2008 for Mac, Web Services Edition are highlighted.

In Mac OS X, you can configure Entourage 2008 to readyour Cyrus or IU Exchange mail at IndianaUniversity using IMAP. However, UITS recommends that you donot use IMAP to connect to your IU Exchange account,as that will limit the functionality of Entourage.
Note: If you have never run Entourage before, aSetup Assistant will appear when you first launch the program.However, since these instructions explain how to set up your accountmanually, close that window if you see it.

- Launch Entourage. From the Entourage menu, selectAccount Settings....
- In the
Accountswindow that appears, click theMail tab, and then click New. If theAccountSetup Assistantwindow appears, at the bottom of the window,click Configure account manually. - In the
New Accountwindow that opens, from the pull-down menu next to 'Account type:', select IMAP. Click OK. - In the
Edit Accountwindow, click the AccountSettings tab. - In the 'Account name:' field, enter a name for your account. Thiscan be any name you wish; for example, at IU, you could use
CyrusorExchange. - Check Include this account in my 'Send & Receive All'schedule.
- In the 'Name:' field, enter the name you want to appear in the'From:' headers of email messages you send. Normally, this should beyour real name.
- Enter your email address in the appropriate field.
If you are unsure of your exact IU email address, see Your IU email address.
- In the 'Account ID:' field, enter your email username (e.g.,
dvader). - In the appropriate field, enter the hostname of your IMAP server:
To access your Exchange account, enter
imap.exchange.iu.edu. - If you are the only person who has access to your computer, youmay want Entourage to save your password. Check Savepassword: or Save password in my Mac OS Keychain. Then,enter your password in the 'Password:' or 'Save password:' field.
- Select Click here for advanced receiving options. Awindow will appear with several additional mail receptionsettings. Check This IMAP server requires a secure connection(SSL). Then, close this window.
- You will be in the
Edit accountwindow.In the 'Outgoing' or 'SMTP' server field, type:
- Select Click here for advanced sending options, and a smallpreference window will pop up. Set the following:
- Check SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL).
- If you experience difficulty sending mail on port 25, checkOverride default SMTP port: and change the number from 25 to465 or 587.
- Check SMTP server requires authentication, and thenselect Use same settings as receiving mail server.
- In the field under 'Domain for unqualified addresses', you canoptionally type a default domain. For example, specifying
indiana.eduwould allow you to send mail to most users atIU Bloomington by using just their usernames.
Click the square in the upper left corner of the pop-up window toclose it.
- Under the Options and Advanced tabs, you canchange a few additional settings, but they are usually not required toaccess your IMAP mail. Click OK.
- Back in the
Accountswindow, if you have more thanone account set up, click the one that you use most often, and thenclick Make Default.
